The new COMET 700 geomembrane hot wedge welder from Leister introduces faster welding performance, quicker setting up times, optimised handling and sophisticated control and data capture capabilities.
The COMET 700 comes in a wide choice of variants to suit specific applications and also comes with a range of new accessories that help get the job done. These new design features allow the machine to achieve welding speeds of up to 8m/min without swapping gears. Previous COMET machines could only weld up to 3.2m/min.
In order to achieve this the all new COMET 700 is now able to weld at a maximum welding temperature of 460ºC (up from 420ºC), and has had its power output increased to 2300W for the 230V versions and 1700W for the 120V versions. (up from 1850W and 1200W respectively). In addition the wedge shape and deployment design has radically changed to provide better material contact and a simpler means of engaging the hot wedge into the welding position.
Previously the wedge had to be manually moved into position between the sheets to be welded, leading to issues of the wedge catching the material as it was being moved or not being seated fully into postion. Now the new wedge is automatically positioned by the machine and no lateral movement of the wedge is required. This means a faster wedge deployment, which is also more consistent and less prone to error.
The grab handles have also been redesigned to make holding and maneouvering the COMET 700 welder much easier and with more control.
New to the COMET 700 (& 500) is the option of 45mm drive rollers designed to improve welding of structured material and allowing more pressure to be applied to the weld. The new 45mm rollers come in both sharp and blunt grip versions which also include options for a 90º or 45º test channel shoulder.
Many of the accessories for the TWINNY T7 & T5 are shared with the new COMET 700 & 500 machines, including guide bars, rollers and various application kits (e.g. indoor, field, zero overlap and a new drive roller extension kit for stabilising smooth material like thin PVC).
The COMET 700 comes complete with LQS, Leisters latest tracking, measuring and recording capabilities. With this system the machine can log all of the welding parameters including global positioning data and store or transmit these over WIFI. The parameters that can be controlled by the COMET 700 include welding pressure, with monitoring andf alarm functions, voltage monitoring (in case of under voltage) and welding speed.
The new COMET 700 weighs in at 9.4 kg, heavier than the previous COMET, but the new machine is far more capable in the demandingly harsh environments such as welding linings and geotextiles for landfill sites and caps and mining.
Two COMET machines will remain in the line up specificaaly for tunnelling applications.
The COMET 700 is available in 230V and 120V with many options for each voltage.
